ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

As our communities address growth and development impacts on the provision of local services, there is a need for economic development both within and outside individual community’s borders. The SNHPC offers a variety of local and regional economic development planning services to advocate for housing choice and support development that will maintain sustainable communities. These services include fiscal impact analysis and Cost of Community Services Studies, the development of impact fee ordinances, capital improvement programs, economic development plans and tourism studies. Additionally, in the past SNHPC has provided support to the Community Development Finance Authority in generating regional economic data and housing reports.

Town of Goffstown Transportation Impact Fee Ordinance
To meet the growing need for transportation infrastructure improvements, with limited available finances, the Town of Goffstown has identified a Traffic Impact Fee (TIF) as a potential funding source to partially meet improvement costs. SNHPC has prepared a project proposal that was submitted to the Town in January 2005 and was subsequently approved. The project will identify transportation projects in the town that could be funded through TIF in the next six years along with generating cost estimates of those projects. Trips will be estimated for both the base and future scenarios, where the future scenario is based on projected growth. The final estimate will be in the form of dollars per evening peak hour generated from the new developments in the Town. A report will be available on this web page once the study is complete.

Greater Manchester Regional Economic Development Roundtable
Participation in the Greater Manchester Regional Economic Development Roundtable is a partnership between the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce and the NH Department of Resources and Economic Development. The mission of this initiative is to encourage communities to look beyond individual borders, foster positive relationship building and cooperation among individual communities, and to collectively promote the Greater Manchester region as a desirable place to “live, work, and play.”
