Connected/Autonomous Vehicles

The Commission is actively involved with planning and developing policy for mobility with vehicles that have the technology to communicate and sense infrastructure around them or operate and navigate without human input.

Connected Vehicles (CV)
Vehicles that include devices and technology that connect the vehicle to services and networks outside the vehicle. These connections allow the vehicle to “talk” with other vehicles and with the infrastructure. The focus is on assisting a driver to make better choices while driving.

Automated Vehicles (AV)
Vehicles that use devices and technology to take over nearly all the decision making related to the driving task of automotive transportation (aka Autonomous Vehicles, SelfDriving Vehicles, Driverless Cars, or Robotic Cars).
