CART is a public transportation system serving the towns of Chester, Derry, Hampstead, Londonderry and Salem (with limited service to Plaistow and Windham also available).

Effective September 30, 2019, CART has merged with the Manchester Transit Authority (MTA) in order to provide long-term staffing and organizational stability and gain the efficiencies of working with a larger organization. CART will retain its identity and service structure, and is working with MTA and Easter Seals New Hampshire staff to ensure this transition is smooth for riders. The CART Board of Directors is made up of representatives from each CART member community, including Derry, Salem, Londonderry, Hampstead and Chester. It will continue to function as a committee of the MTA Board, and will have authority over all local and Federal funds that support CART and all decisions regarding CART service.

Transportation services currently provided by CART include:

Curb-to-Curb
Curb-to-Curb is a shared-ride service that is available to any resident of the five service towns, especially seniors and others in the community who need transportation. Wheelchair lift-equipped vehicles are available to accommodate the needs of individuals with disabilities. Curb-to-Curb rides must be scheduled several days in advance. There is a minimal fare for the Curb-to-Curb service that ranges from $3-5 per one-way ride depending on destination with discounted half-fare rates available for those who qualify.

Shuttles
CART offers several Shuttles with Route Deviation service. This means the Shuttles will pick up riders and run to regularly scheduled destinations and will also “deviate” to pick-up and drop-off riders within a quarter mile radius of the route. Riders must call ahead to schedule a shuttle ride. Shuttle rides are provided free of charge.

Shopping Shuttle
CART provides a fixed-route bus service in Salem. The Salem Shopping Shuttle makes regularly scheduled stops in the Town, running between senior housing complexes and retail shopping centers. Shuttle rides are provided free of charge.
