UNIFIED PLANNING WORK PROGRAM (UPWP)
The Unified Planning Work Program (FY 2008 and FY 2009) for the Southern New Hampshire Planning Commission area has been developed to meet the requirements of the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA-21), and the final regulations issued by the Federal Highway Administration and Federal Transit Administration (23 CFR 450), which became effective on February 24, 2003. It includes a description of all transportation and transportation-related planning activities that will be performed during the fiscal years beginning July 1, 2007 and ending June 30, 2009.
Funds authorized by 23 USC 104(f), or Metropolitan Planning (PL) funds, as well as the funds authorized by Section 8 (current Section 5303) of the FTA 1998, are major sources of revenue for transportation planning in the SNHPC area. The planning activities outlined in the Unified Planning Work Program have been designed to meet local needs and to be consistent with the planning requirements of Section 134 of Title 23 USC and Section 8, Metropolitan Planning, of the Federal Transit Act.
